J. A. Feliciano — Author Biography

J. A. Feliciano is a lawyer, musician, and author from Puerto Rico. He is on the autism spectrum (ASD Level 1) and is currently writing his debut novel, Settlement 2107.

Halfway through law school, he began building the novel’s world, drawing inspiration from real-world political events and government practices around the globe. His legal studies also shaped its in-world legal framework, which draws on real Puerto Rico law. What began as a cyberpunk vision of Puerto Rico without a story took shape during his three-month bar-exam study period, when writing became a way to unwind and clear his head.

His lived experience as an autistic person shapes Gat’s sensory point of view, including the novel’s vivid use of onomatopoeia.
